A new Japanese-style cafe is headed to Coral Gables and its got a name that you won’t soon forget – The Screaming Parrots.
The Burn Miami has exclusively learned that The Screaming Parrots is going to move into 2626 Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
It will be taking over the space that was just recently vacated by the Sospiro Wine Bar & Cucina. We broke the news of that establishment’s closure earlier this week.
At the time, we were told a cafe was possibly moving in – and now we know it will be The Screaming Parrots.
There is one other Screaming Parrots location in the U.S. according to the company’s website. It’s clear on the other side of the country in Redmond, Washington.
Now, the owners are bringing the brand to South Florida and the Gables – and with it an expanded menu.
According to their social media, so far The Screaming Parrots has specialized in teas, matchas, and Japanese-style desserts.
But with the opening of a larger space in the Gables, they will be offering additional dishes such as soufflés and crepes and more.
“We developed a full food menu years ago. We just couldn’t serve it,” The Screaming Parrots team posted online. “Our Redmond space was too small. Not enough kitchen, not enough room to do it right with the amount of people we serve. So it sat there. Finished, and waiting. Miami changed that. The space is big enough. Finally.”
No word on a timeline to opening, but work on the space to redesign it as the new cafe has reportedly already started.
