It’s been nearly five months since a fire at the Ossobuco grill restaurant in Coconut Grove forced the establishment to temporarily closed. (See our original report on the fire here.)
Now, there are signs that plans to reopen the much-loved restaurant – found at 2801-A Florida Avenue – are moving forward.
The Burn Miami passed by the location recently and spotted a freshly issued building permit posted. This will allow work crews to start the process of cleaning up the fire damage and getting Ossobuco back in tip top shape.
There was also a new sign from the restaurant’s team that reads, in part: “The fire never went out. Behind these doors, we’re working on something even better. Thank you for your patience, your love, and for making Ossobuco part of this neighborhood. We’ll be back soon.”
Ossobuco was founded by Argentine chef and grill master Guillermo Eleicegui and has now expanded to three locations.
Besides the Ossobuco in the Grove, the brand also has its original restaurant in Wynwood and another Ossobuco just opened this week in Aventura.
As far as the reopening in the Grove, we reached out and a rep told us it’s too soon to set a date yet, but they are working hard to remodel the space and hope to open as soon as possible.
