Surprising news out of Coral Gables where the much-loved Babette restaurant has closed ahead of a move to a new location.
Babette opened in late 2024 at 301 Alcazar Avenue. That’s the historic 1928 La Jolla Ballroom building.
The elegant Babette specialized in artfully prepared European cuisine.
The Burn Miami had just dined there two weeks ago, so we were surprised by their closing announcement on social media this week.
“On August 19th, we served our last dinner at Babette Coral Gables,” the post read. “It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the place where our story began. We leave behind what no longer belongs in our journey, carrying forward everything that made Babette special: our team, our passion, our memories, and all of you who became part of our story.”
The post goes on to say that Babette’s operators – Chef Daniel “Dani” Chávez-Bello and his wife, Alexandra Oliveros – are excited for a new beginning at a new location.
That specific spot and address hasn’t been announced yet, but the couple say it will be revealed very soon and they anticipate starting dinner service at the new Babette on September 4.
