Coconut Grove’s new 1986 Steak House opening soon

Opening date is getting closer – very close – for the new 1986 Steak House coming to Coconut Grove. The 1986 team has announced they expect to open sometime this month – as in the next 3-4 weeks.

A year ago this week, The Burn Miami first broke the news about the Argentinian steakhouse coming to the Mayfair in the Grove center off Florida Avenue.

1986 will sit across the breezeway from the Carbone Vino Italian restaurant and feature large, arched windows looking out into the pedestrian area.

The menu at 1986 Steak House is still top secret, but it’s being described as “modern Argentinian.”

Some hints on social media show that besides steaks, the restaurant will serve seafood, including octopus and lobster tails, as well as steak tartare.

There will be a full bar and a large wine selection, likely heavy on Argentinian wines.

The announcement of an opening date is expected anytime now, so stay tuned.
