A surprise on Tuesday as a new fast casual style Mexican restaurant opened its doors quietly in Coral Gables. It’s called Mercadito and its from the same folks behind the upcoming Cantina Leon restaurant.
The Burn Miami has been reporting on Cantina Leon for a year now – and opening day appears to be getting close.
It’s a big, upscale, full service Mexican restaurant opening at The Plaza Coral Gables on Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
But first, the team at the restaurant has decided to debut a little side gig they’ve got going – the Mercadito, or Little Market.
Situated behind the main Cantina Leon space, across the street from the entrance to the Loews Hotel – Mercadito offers a menu that includes breakfast items as well as lunch and dinner dishes.
We’re talking chilaquiles, tacos, quesadillas, guacamole, esquites, and more. There’s even a variety of beers available at Mercadito. You can see the restaurant’s full menu below.
There’s still no official announcement on when Cantina Leon will open, but eager foodies in the area can now get their Mexican fix from Mercadito while they wait.
