Reason revealed behind Subbin’ Subs name change in South Miami

Well, now we know the reason behind the recent name change of a popular South Miami sandwich shop. It couldn’t get the trademark.

Of course, we’re talking about Subbin’ Subs, formerly known as Subby’s Subs. We told readers about the new name back in November.

At the time, we didn’t understand the change – Subby’s Subs was such a cute name. But now, the owner has revealed the real reason on social media.

As the brand expands to new locations around South Florida, it tried to get a trademark on Subby’s Subs – and it was rejected. This forced them to choose the alternative but similar name Subbin’ Subs.

We googled and found a brand called Super Subby’s in Dayton, Ohio with eight locations – so that could have been part of the problem.

Regardless, Subbin’ Subs is now going strong with the new name. The team has opened a location in Kendall at 13668 Southwest 88th Street.

And a third location is reportedly in the works for a new shopping center coming to Doral called the Doral Marketplace.

Of course, the original Subbin’ Subs can still be found in South Miami at 7370 Southwest 57th Avenue.
