Coral Gables

Exclusive: Moxies planning huge new location in the Gables

Something amazing could be headed to downtown Coral Gables. The Burn Miami has learned that the restaurant brand Moxies is working on a new location in The City Beautiful.

According to paperwork filed with the city, Moxies wants to build a two-story restaurant with an outdoor rooftop dining area right on Miracle Mile.

They hope to tear down the vacant retail building at the corner of Miracle Mile and Galiano Street to build the new restaurant.

That spot used to be a Navarro Discount Pharmacy.

We first told readers that Moxies had plans in Coral Gables last September, but at the time, we didn’t know what location the brand was circling. Now we know.

And when we tell you that Moxies plans are mammoth, we mean it. Picture a main floor dining room with seating for more than 150 guests, plus a bar that holds more than 25 guests, plus an outdoor patio with seats for 40 people and a small private dining room.

And that’s just the first floor. On the second floor there is seating for another 130+ guests both inside and on an outside rooftop terrace. And the plans call for another huge bar with roughly 30 seats and another larger private dining room that could also be opened for regular dining.

All total, the Moxies location could potentially hold close to 400 diners at one time.

Right now, it appears the plans are just a proposal as Moxies seeks permission to tear down the current building on the site.

Moxies got its start more than 30 years ago in Canada and is now in a major growth mode. You can click here and check out the Moxies menu we featured in our previous story.

There are currently two Moxies locations in Florida – one in Brickell in downtown Miami and the other in Fort Lauderdale. Another one is in the works for West Palm Beach.
