A new restaurant called Mezquite Taqueria & Michelada Bar is coming to the Coral Gables area along the restaurant-heavy stretch of Coral Way east of Miracle Mile.
The exact location will be 2280 Southwest 22nd Street. That is the former home to Al Carbon, a burger and craft beer restaurant.
Mezquite will specialize in what it bills as authentic Mexican cuisine with a focus on traditional street tacos and micheladas, a popular drink traditionally made with beer, lime juice, hot sauce, and spices.
No word yet on when Mezquite will start welcoming guests, but the restaurant’s team posted on social media that the opening date will be announced soon.
