Sad news this past weekend as Wall’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, a longtime South Miami ice cream shop, announced that it was closing its original location.
After two decades serving up sundaes and cones, the colorful ice cream stand had become a local landmark. It’s located at 8075 Southwest 67th Avenue.
“Dear Wall’s Community,” the message began. “We are saddened to announce that our original Wall’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream location will be closing.”
But it goes on to say: “Don’t worry… Wall’s is not going away. We are ready to continue to serve you at our Sunset location 9521 Southwest 72nd Street and we are working to open a new location near by. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making Wall’s such an important part of the community.”
This past Saturday – October 4 – was the last day in business for the original Wall’s location. No word yet on where – or when – the new store they are planning will open.
