New barbecue restaurant coming to the Gables

A new barbecue restaurant is in the works for the Coral Gables area – one that could soon have multiple locations around South Florida.

The first location of Gringos BBQ is expected to open next month at 3693 Southwest 22nd Terrace. That’s right near the intersection of Coral Way and Douglas Road.

Gringos will be sharing a space with the Toasted Bagelry & Deli restaurant at that spot.

The plan makes good sense because Toasted Bagelry is only open for breakfast and lunch. The space sits dark after the bagel shop closes at 3 p.m. Now, Gringos BBQ will take over the late afternoon and evening hours and serve up their menu of barbecued meats plus sides.

The partners behind the new restaurant are indeed both gringos – brothers Daniel and Patrick Sheehy. Both of them have restaurant and food service experience, including catering and a BBQ food truck.

While an official menu hasn’t been released yet – at their other businesses, the brothers have served up brisket, spare ribs, baked beans, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and more.

If all goes smoothly, the current plan calls for them to open the first Gringos BBQ location in the Gables on Saturday, November 1. Their regular schedule will be Thursday through Sunday each week.

Toasted Bagelry has three other stores, including Wynwood and Brickell, and the longterm plan is to offer Gringos BBQ at all the locations.
