A elegant new Japanese restaurant has opened its doors in downtown Coral Gables. It’s called ELYU Omakase.
ELYU is technically found at 2626 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, but the small restaurant is actually behind Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and its entrance is on the side street – Almeria Avenue. That’s the former home of the GROU coffee shop.
ELYU Omakase has just 12 seats for an intimate experience that goes beyond just dining. It is described as “a sanctuary of Japanese artistry in the heart of Coral Gables.”

The food is the creation of Chef Reiji Yoshizawa, who most recently was an executive chef at MILA on Miami Beach.
The word “omakase” translates to something akin to “I leave it up to you” – and it means that the chef decides the courses served versus the guest choosing.
ELYU Omakase is open from 6 p.m. to midnight, Wednesday through Sunday.
