Sometimes the dishes a restaurant serves could be called art – but what about the facade of a restaurant itself? That word might apply to the installation planned for the upcoming Ami Ami cafe.
As The Burn Miami reported back in July, Ami Ami is coming to downtown Coral Gables. It’s taking the former Lotus Garden spot at 318 Miracle Mile.
We told readers that it was going to be more than just a typical cafe. Ami Ami has bigger plans to be a “cultural” cafe” and feature not just food and beverages, but also art, books, and music.
To that end, the cafe’s owners sought permission from Coral Gables for an eye-catching facade to the space – and their request was granted. You can see an artist’s rendering of the storefront above.
Ami Ami says it will be “a vibrant mix of handcrafted ceramic tiles and artistic detail”for this “artsy Mediterranean Revival–style café.”
Still no word on when Ami Ami will open. We’ll keep our eyes open and report back when we have an update.
