The waiting game for the reopening of Celosa Cafe & Lounge continues in the heart of Coral Gables. It’s been closed for several months – and when its doors will open again is still unknown.
If you haven’t been, Celosa Cafe is a lovely free-standing restaurant located in the open air courtyard at The Plaza Coral Gables. It’s right in front of the popular MIKA restaurant.
Celosa – which is operated by the nearby Loews Hotel – closed earlier this summer.
It was reportedly a decision made as the summer temperatures climbed and business softened. However, we didn’t find any information about the closure on the restaurant’s website or social media.
We are hearing that plans call for Celosa Cafe to reopen when the weather cools off. And indeed, we checked with the team at the Loews and they said they understand it will reopen – possibly in November.
All the equipment and fixtures and furniture are still on site, locked up securely inside the glass-walled building.
As the name indicates, Celosa Cafe & Lounge is more than just a coffee house. It also has a menu of shareable plates and sandwiches along with a full bar.
We’ll keep checking on a reopening and let you know when we hear Celosa Cafe is back in business.
