New bubble tea, banh mi cafe opening in the Grove

A new banh mi and bubble tea shop is coming to Coconut Grove – and it’s located in an iconic spot: inside the Grove’s Books & Books bookstore.

The new cafe in the store at 3409 Main Highway will be called BANH and it will serve up the popular Vietnamese sandwich banh mi, which traditionally features a baguette filled with meat and other savory ingredients.

The shop will also specialize in bubble teas and other beverages including the Dreamy Darkness with black milk tea, brown sugar syrup, and boba; and the Cà Phê Rush, with Vietnamese cold brew, sweetened condensed milk, and sea salt foam.

BAHN has already started serving its bubble tea menu inside the Books & Books as it gets ready to launch its yet-to-be-revealed bahn mi sandwich menu. You can see the BANH menu here.

Meanwhile, BANH is expected to begin offering its sandwiches sometime in October.

It’s worth noting that BANH is the creation of two reality cooking show stars. Chef Phuoc Vo has worked in major kitchens around the country and has appeared on several Food Network programs, including Cutthroat Kitchen.

And UM graduate Aidan Friedson is a two-time Chopped Junior champion on the Food Network. Friedson is the nephew of Books & Books founder Mitchell Kaplan.
