The growing restaurant brand reportedly has its eyes on a new location. The Burn Miami has been told that Bored Cuban is planning a South Miami store.
The address is 5812 Sunset Drive. That’s the former longtime home of the original Sushi Maki restaurant that closed earlier this summer after more than two decades in business. (See our report on Sushi Maki here.)
We did a little digging and found a filing with the State of Florida Division of Corporations for “Bored Cuban Somi Inc.” The principal address is the same 5812 Sunset. The filing is linked to Castell Enterprises which is linked to Eric Castellanos, the founder and owner of Bored Cuban.
Castellanos opened the first Bored Cuban in early 2024. Castellanos and his wife are also the owners of the Latin Cafe 2000 restaurant brand.
The menu at Bored Cuban feels like a traditional Cuban restaurant only with some unique modern twists. For example, one of the menu’s centerpieces are “pixas” – a Cuban version of a flatbread.
There are also sandwiches, wraps, bowls, açai bowls, traditional Cuban bakery items, cafecitos and other beverages and more. You can see the full Bored Cuban menu on their website here.
The original Bored Cuban location is at 831 Northwest 42nd Avenue near MIA. That happens to be right next door to a Latin Cafe 2000 location.
A second Bored Cuban opened earlier this year inside the Latin Cafe 2000 location at 1053 Brickell Plaza downtown.
Now, it looks like store No. 3 is headed to South Miami. We’ve got messages in to the Bored Cuban team for more information on their plans. We’ll report back what we find out.
