A surprising turn of events in the restaurant scene in downtown Coral Gables. It appears that Osumi Cocktail & Sushi Bar won’t be returning – at least not to its spot on Giralda Avenue.
Instead, it looks like the Aromas del Peru Peruvian restaurant is going to move into that spot, located at 110 Giralda Avenue.
There is already some Aromas del Peru signage at the Giralda location and we’re told a menu has been posted out front as well.
As readers of The Burn Miami know, earlier this year, Osumi closed down “temporarily” for what was supposed to be some needed maintenance work at the restaurant.
As recently as last month, an employee inside Osumi told us they expected to reopen in September. But that doesn’t appear to be happening now.
Instead, an employee at Aromas del Peru told us they expect to move into the Giralda Avenue spot in “about a month.”
Since roughly 2011, Aromas del Peru has been a staple at its currently location at 1930 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. The brand also has five other locations around South Florida.
No reason was given for the relocation, but the restaurant-heavy pedestrian mall area of Giralda where they are moving could be better spot for business.
Also, no official word on the fate of Osumi – are they closing permanently or could they be relocating too? We’ve sent messages. We’ll let you know if we get an answer.
