Upscale new ‘speakeasy library’ bar coming to the Grove

A chic new bar is coming to the Grove and it’s being billed as “Coconut Grove’s Timeless Hangout.”

The new watering hole will be called Mae’s Room and it is one of several eating and drinking venues being opened around the outdoor patio next to Chug’s Diner at 3444 Main Highway.

And it’s no coincidence that Mae’s Room and the other new establishments are all coming from Ariete Hospitality Group – the folks who own and operate Chug’s – and their partners at Mae’s Group.

Studio Lobo, a Miami-based design firm, had some lovely renderings of what Mae’s Room will look like on their website.

The accompanying description of the new bar reads: “Inspired by the neighborhood it’s nestled in, Mae’s Room is a space where time refuses to exist. Dripping in walnut woods and rich olive green tones, this speakeasy library bar is the place the Grove has been asking for, a place to escape, to connect and unwind.”

As we mentioned, Mae’s Room isn’t the only new venue coming to this spot. As The Burn Miami has been reporting, a new burgers, fritas and soft serve restaurant called Chuggie’s will be opening in the building.

And the space in between Chuggie’s and Mae’s Room will be the new home of Drinking Pig BBQ. See our report on that restaurant here.

Construction work is underway inside all three spaces, but no word so far on when Mae’s Room or its sister restaurants will officially open.
