New “cultural cafe” taking over Lotus Garden space on Miracle Mile

A very unique new cafe is in the works for Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. It will be called Ami Ami and it aims to be a fun, local hangout as much as a restaurant or cafe.

The Burn Miami has learned that Ami Ami will move into the space at 318 Miracle Mile. That’s the former longtime home of the Lotus Garden Restaurant, which closed in 2024 after 37 years in business.

Fabio Faerman and Sebastian Faerman – the team from FA Commercial – brokered the deal on behalf of the tenant.

The word “ami” is, of course, French for “friend.” We spoke with the owners – Milena Damchevski and Dushan Drakalski – about the vision for their new establishment.

“Ami Ami began with a simple idea: to create a place where food, art, books, and music live under one roof—and where people genuinely want to spend time. Inspired by the café culture of Europe but grounded in the creative energy of Miami, Ami Ami is designed as a full-sensory experience.”

“You can come in for a seasonal, delicious brunch or an early evening board coupled with a carefully selected beer or a glass of wine, browse curated shelves of books and records, discover local and international art, and even bring home selected pieces of furniture and design.”

No official timeline to opening has been announced. Right now, they say they hope to be ready to open “in a few months.”
