Cao Bakery offering “Holy Cao” sandwiches across South Florida

The ubiquitous Cao Bakery & Cafe chain is right in the middle of offering a line up of special sandwiches. They call them their “Holy Cao Sandwiches.”

The special menu – which launched a few weeks back – is scheduled to run through Monday, September 1.

Cao shared descriptions of the special items with The Burn Miami:

  • Croqueta Club: A Cuban-American twist on the classic club sandwich. Featuring two of Cao’s  signature croquetas de la casa, layered with sliced turkey, crispy bacon, melted American cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise—all stacked on toasted white bread.
  • Frita Chop Cheese: A chopped frita patty covered with melted Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and crispy shoestring papitas. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes, drizzled with homemade garlic aioli sauce served between soft Cuban bread.
  • Frita SmashBurger: Two juicy Frita patties stacked high and smothered in melted white American cheese, layered with crisp lettuce and fresh tomatoes. Finished with the signature CAO secret sauce and served on a Hawaiian bun.
  • Churrasco Chop Cheese: Tender churrasco steak marinated with garlic-truffle salt, chopped and smothered in melted Swiss cheese with grilled onions. Topped with lettuce, fresh tomatoes, and shoestring papitas, then finished with a chimichurri drizzle served on Cuban bread
  • Chicken Milanesa Caesar: Crispy, golden-breaded chicken breast layered with fresh romaine lettuce, creamy Caesar dressing, and shredded Parmesan cheese, served on Cuban bread.

We refer to Cao Bakery & Cafe as “ubiquitous” because the local brand now has more than 20 locations around South Florida and over in the Tampa area.

That list includes one in Coral Gables at 245 University Drive, just off Ponce de Leon Boulevard.
