New restaurant La Sponda planned for Grove Isle

A new restaurant has been announced for Grove Isle, the tiny residential island just off shore from Coconut Grove.

The new restaurant will be called La Sponda – which appropriately enough – means “the shore” in Italian.

It will be part of the new Vita at Grove Isle luxury residential building that is expected to be completed later this year.

The restaurant is currently expected to open late this year as well. December is the target month to start welcoming guests.

The precise cuisine that be served at La Sponda hasn’t been announced yet, but from the name, one can infer it will be an Italian restaurant.

La Sponda is coming from the team at the Gioia Hospitality Group. The only image we could find online was an artist’s rendering from the GHP website showing what the waterfront restaurant might look like. You can see that rendering at the top of this story.

GHP has several other South Florida restaurants. One is Fiola in Coral Gables. As The Burn Miami recently reported, Fiola is closing June 21 to make way for a new steakhouse called Daniel’s later this summer.
