A restaurant brand from Europe with a catchy name is opening its first location in the United States right in the heart of downtown Coral Gables.
The restaurant is called El Ñaño – try saying that three times fast – and it’s coming to a prime spot on Miracle Mile.
Temporary signage for El Ñaño has gone up on the windows at 339 Miracle Mile. That’s the former home to the Belmont Spanish Restaurant, which closed its doors at the end of last year.

The El Ñaño brand is based in Spain and currently has four locations in Barcelona and one in Madrid, according to its website.
Despite the Spanish roots, the restaurant’s cuisine focuses on Ecuadorian dishes. Indeed, the motto for El Ñaño is “Ecuadorian food for the world.”
The menu at El Ñaño includes appetizers such as Salchipapas, which are French fries served with thinly sliced sausage, and Patacones con queso, which are tostones with cheese.
Entrees include Camarones reventados, which is a breaded shrimp dish, and Chaufalán, an Ecuadorian version of fried rice.
They also offer salads, ceviches, and more. The El Ñaño menus vary from location to location, but you can get an idea of the lineup with the Madrid version of the menu here.
