Happy news for fans of the longtime local Spanish restaurant Delicias de España. Work is underway once again on a new location coming to South Miami.
It was just a month ago that The Burn Miami reported on Delicias and how work had apparently stalled on the space at 5600 Sunset Drive. Neighboring tenants said they hadn’t seen anyone there in months.
But when one of our reporters passed by this week, the space had been cleaned up and there was a team in there working.
We asked about a timeline to opening – and while it’s too soon for a definitive date – they said they are aiming for late 2025 or early 2026.
Delicias de España dates back to 1997. It’s original location was at the intersection of Bird Road and Red Road, but that spot was destroyed in a blaze in 2018.
The owners promised to rebuild somewhere in the area – and after many years, the Sunset Drive spot was leased.
There are two other Delicias de España locations. One is on Bird Road at 7384 Southwest 40th Street. The other is near Dadeland Mall at 8950 Southwest 74th Court, Suite 101.
