Work underway on new steakhouse at Mayfair in the Grove

Construction has started on another large new steakhouse coming to Coconut Grove. This one will be called the 1986 Steak House, according to the landlord.

1986 Steak House is moving into a space in the Mayfair in the Grove project.

It will be right across the pedestrian breezeway from the Carbone Vino restaurant, and next door to the upcoming Avo Miami restaurant and Go Greek Yogurteria shop.

The Burn Miami took a peek inside the 1986 Steak House space and construction crews were busy putting up interior walls and building out the restaurant.

The restaurant will be a new concept reportedly coming from the same folks who previously operated the longtime Brickell favorite PM Fish & Steakhouse. That restaurant closed a few months back.

PM was an Argentinian steakhouse, but no word if the new restaurant in the Grove will be also. We’ve reached out to the team behind 1986 for more details so stay tuned.

By the way, this is one of at least two major steakhouses under construction in Coconut Grove. The other is the opening-soon Chop Steakhouse. You can read our recent report about the latest developments with Chop here.
