It appears a new pizza restaurant is headed to the restaurant mecca that is Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. It’s called Massimo’s Pizzeria and it will specialize in what they call Roman-style pizza.
“The high-hydration Roman-style pizza in a pan spread in the 1980s and 1990s,” the restaurant’s website reads. Online pizza sources say Roman pizza is characterized by a thin, crispy crust that has an airy texture.
Short version – it’s pizza in a pan, which is fine by us.
The website also mentions they will have suppli on the menu, a dish akin to arancini. Picture stringy mozzarella and rice rolled in a ball and fried to a crisp crunchiness.

Massimo’s is headed to 223A Miracle Mile. That’s a couple of doors down from Ojo de Agua and across the street from the much-loved Emmy Squared Detroit-style pizza restaurant.
According to the city, the permit to build out the space was just issued, so work should begin soon. We’ll keep you posted on its progress.
