Cantina Leon, the high-end Mexican restaurant coming to Coral Gables, has started posting to social media — and with it, some new details on this highly-anticipated new establishment.
The restaurant is coming to The Plaza Coral Gables — the huge development on Ponce de Leon Boulevard that features multiple restaurants and retail shops, plus offices, residential units, and the Loews Hotel.
Cantina Leon was first announced several years ago, but permit hang-ups slowed down progress. However, we can now report that construction on the space is underway full bore.
And this month, the social media team at Cantina Leon has started getting active — a sure sign an opening day is getting closer.
“Cantina Leon will feature cuisine inspired by Mexican flavors and traditions, with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients,” the team posted to Instagram. “The beverage program will include a full bar with Miami’s most extensive tequila and mezcal collection along with an international wine list featuring the largest selection of Mexican wine and beer available in town.”
They’ve also posted several photos showing food and drinks that will undoubtedly be on the menu. We’re talking things like fresh-made guacamole, salt-rimmed margaritas, and fire-roasted corn.
We are still waiting on the release of that debut menu as well as an official opening date. Right now, they are just promising they’ll be ready to welcome guests sometime this summer.
