It appears a new “authentic” Mexican restaurant is in the works for the heart of Coral Gables – that’s based on some detective work we’ve been doing.
Regular readers of The Burn Miami may recall that just a week ago, we reported that The Brunchful had closed at 369 Miracle Mile. The sign had been removed and the windows were papered over.
Now, the words “La Vecina Chimosa” – The Nosy Neighbor – have appeared on the windows of the vacant space. (If they are calling The Burn Miami a nosy neighbor, we are indeed.)
We couldn’t help notice that the font used on “La Vecina Chimosa” looked identical to the font used on the window coverings at another vacant space right next door at 371 Miracle Mile.

When we dug a little deeper into that address, we found permits filed with the city of Coral Gables for a new Mexican restaurant at 371 Miracle Mile called Fonda Doña Leonor.
Fonda is a Spanish word for a restaurant – often a casual, inexpensive restaurant.
The plans for Fonda Doña Leonor include 225 square feet of outdoor sidewalk cafe dining.
We even found a logo for the new restaurant in a trademark filing showing an old-fashioned illustration with a regal looking woman surrounded by a wreath of bright colors.
Right now, we don’t know if Fonda Doña Leonor is going to take both storefronts – 371 Miracle Mile and 369 Miracle Mile – or just one.
And what is La Vecina Chimosa/The Nosy Neighbor? Is it the actual name of a new business coming to the space? Or just a cheeky expression meant to capture the attention of passers-by?
The Burn Miami loves a good mystery, so we’ll keep investigating and report back. Stay tuned.
