A new gourmet market and deli planned for Coral Gables appears to be frozen in time – and it’s been an agonizing wait for fans of the brand.
We’re talking about Frankie & Wally’s.
Known for their delicious craft sandwiches, Frankie & Wally’s originally got its start back in 2020 as a catering and food truck business.
In 2022, the owners announced they were going the brick-and-mortar route with a new location at 216 Palermo Avenue in the Gables.
Three years later – an interminable time for their fans and undoubtedly for them too – the space looks like it’s nearly ready to open. But it’s sat apparently untouched for months.
The Burn Miami went by the location last week and it looks great. The sign is up on the charming facade and a peek in the windows shows the space looks nearly complete – a fully formed market and deli only missing the food products on the shelves and in the coolers.

The Frankie & Wally’s website has been updated for the new location where they tease visitors with what is to come: “Bringing New York’s Flavors to South Florida. At Frankie & Wally’s, culinary passion meets gourmet excellence. Chefs Franklin and Wally bring their expertise and love for food to create a unique dining experience in South Florida.”

If and when Frankie & Wally’s opens, customers can anticipate specialties of the house such as New York-style sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, healthy salads, and an on-site coffee bar.
We’ve reached out to the owners for more details on their plans and are eagerly awaiting a response. Hopefully we’ll have more news to share soon.
Will you guys have coffee and home made muffins.
