Burning Question: Any idea when Pura Vida will open in Coconut Grove? It’s been in the works a long time. – Allen S.
Well, that is a darn fine question, Allen. And pinning the Pura Vida Miami folks down has proven to be a tough nut to crack. Here’s what we know.
The popular Pura Vida Miami restaurant brand is building a new location in Coconut Grove at 3034 Grand Avenue. The site has been under construction since at least last summer, so it’s been a long build. But an end may be in sight.
The Burn Miami reached out to Pura Vida and asked about a rough target for opening, but no one was willing to commit to anything very specific. The closest we got was possibly still this spring – which could mean sometime in May or even early June.

There is a Google listing (above) for the new Coconut Grove spot that has an opening day listed as Friday, April 25 – but Google dates like this are notoriously fluid.

We took this photo of the Pura Vida site on March 25 – and while we are not a general contractor – it looks doubtful they could finish all the work, stock up the store, and train the staff in one month. So, we’re betting that Google date will slide into May or later.
According to its website, Pura Vida Miami has 31 locations across Florida (plus another two spots in New York City). We’ll keep you posted on the status of what should be store No. 32 in the Sunshine State.
