Coral Gables

Scandinavian candy shop planned for the Gables

A new candy shop specializing in sweet as well as sour candies from Scandinavian countries is in the works for Coral Gables. It goes by the cute name ScandyCandy and says it offers “a sweet tastes of Sweden.”

The owners are two Swedish women — Stella and Sara — who now live here in the states and missed the sweets from their homeland.

ScandyCandy is taking an empty storefront at 241 Miracle Mile. Window clings promoting the store have recently gone up.

The brand is a South Florida-based candy purveyor and Coral Gables will be its first brick-and-mortar location. So this could be a big step for them.

The offerings at the shop appear to be centered on the “gummy” style candy — covered in a coating of sugar. They come in both sweet and also sour varieties and are available in mixed bags as well.

They also offer vegan as well as gluten-free and gelatin-free versions, plus Swedish chocolates and other treats. You can see more about the candy at ScandyCandy here.

The ScandyCandy team tells us they are aiming for a mid-May opening.
